5) Network/Collaborate With Like-Minded Musicians
You could apply this principle to anything, it does not necessarily have to relate to music. Remember that saying it is not what you know, but who you know. When you collaborate with another artist or musician, and release the collaborative project, you essentially are equally trading fanbases. Their fans will now know you exist and vice versa. More than likely, you will win some of their fans over and they will win some of your fans over. Thus, increasing your numbers! Some people try to force a collaboration, *cough cough* Jake Paul & Gucci Mane, while others will collaborate with someone who is in the relative vicinity of their sound or vibes, DJ Snake & Skrillex. Either method could work for you. It just depends on how you want to grow your fanbase and what kind of image/brand you want to represent and maintain. Nonetheless, don’t shun yourself from collaborating with artists in the same local area as you. I know they can be viewed as competition, but it will benefit both parties involved if you can put that stigma aside and create something special. I promise.
Obviously there are hundreds of ways you can increase your fanbase but I feel these five are the easiest to accomplish. They each cost you roughly $0 if you play your cards right and that is a huge plus for the upcoming artist.
I will surely follow up with y’all on some more ways you can expand your fanbase once we reach the halfway mark of 2018. A lot can change in 6 months! Feel free to let me know how well these work for you in the comment section!
