PERSONA

As nostalgic as it may sound, talk about your roots and origin. When you meet someone new, a question that usually gets asked is, where are you from? You’ve had a conversation like that, right? There’s an opportunity to make a personal connection with the listener because they can  relate to where you are from or to your background. You can also focus on the future to foster a following. Express what you’re envisioning and how you’re making money move$. It makes building loyalty so much easier when people can understand where you’re coming from and appreciate the vision you have set for yourself. Vocalizing your “why” will speak volumes to people and influence their interest in what you’re trying to accomplish.

COLLABORATION

Everyone you meet can become a potential opportunity. Running a music business and promoting your brand can be complex and difficult to tackle by yourself. This includes having to create lyrics, produce songs, film music videos, and many more things that come along with being in the industry. One way to take on these responsibilities is cooperating with other artists or figures in the entertainment field.

Consider the return on investment when evaluating whether collaboration will be beneficial for the parties involved. Working with individuals can open up new doors and create amazing outcomes. For instance, each collaborator will have their own following and this can be used to expand reach to all parties. These partnerships can lead to new fans for each artist and producer that is featured. In addition to growing your customer base, the partnerships can be used to develop and continue business relations. Growing your network will increase resources and strengthen support within the community.

Make it your business to meet new people and foster connections. Thank to the internet, people have the ability to contact and communicate with business leaders, athletes, celebrities, and even politicians. The possibility that these relationships can happen is incredible and should be capitalized on.

MARKETING

Your movement is your product. No matter how amazing your product is, if no one knows about it, then it can be difficult to effectively spread your message. This is why marketing is crucial. Some questions to ask yourself to analyze your position in the marketplace are:

What does your brand symbolize?

Is its’ focus political in nature, dealing with the listener’s socio-economic status , or their social belief system? Your efforts should convey this in your message. What your brand stands for needs to be apparent in all your marketing efforts. This will strengthen society’s understanding of the story you’re trying to tell. If you don’t have a clear mission, it’s easy to lose peoples’ focus if  they find it too hard to follow.

What type of audience am I striving to reach?

Knowing who your listeners and understanding their listening habits can be immensely beneficial. If they are in a younger generation, the social media website Twitter could be is a powerful method to  to use to reach them . Conversely, if you are are focused on an older population, different types of media may be more effective. Or if people are a part of a particular special interest group, then you should reach out to organizations that are aligned with those beliefs.

Where is your audience spending their time?

They can be found both physically and virtually. Some ways of locating listeners online can be using search engine keywords or social media geographic ad targeting. Offline opportunities can include billboards, flyers, and other print media. Depending on your target audiences’ demographics will help determine how you can reach out to them. Need an idea on how to figure out what consumers do in the spare time? Ask where they get their news. Whether it is outlets like television, radio, or social media, people are giving their attention to certain avenues. Once you figure out which ones your customers are choosing, you need to advertise in these channels.

  1. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
